Rotary Year 2012-2013

2013 Polio Vaccination Trip to Caborca, Mexico

One of our members, Tracey Clark, accompanied 51 Rotarians and spouses on an annual whirlwind trip to Caborca, Mexico the weekend of February 15th.  The mission is to vaccinate as many children between the ages of 1 and 5 against Polio by administering 2 little drops into their mouths.  These children either do not have access to medical facilities or their parents are unaware that the vaccine exists.  This is one of the primary reasons Tracey became a Rotarian.  To have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on experience such as this was exhilarating and humbling at the same time.  Rotary does indeed do amazing things!
Tracey Clark and Marianne Koepnick from the Villa Park Rotary Club all dressed, loaded with candy and books and ready to head out to work!
Just two little drops!
This little guy hid under the family bed. He was finally retrieved and received his two little drops. He never even knew it happened and was so thrilled to get all his goodies!
Polio vaccine or not, this little guy wasn’t going to let go of his Snoopy!
Tracey Clark gives this little girl one of the books that was donated from Crescent School in Anaheim Hills. She was so thrilled!!
